Welcome to Allegheny German Shepherds! Located in the heart of the Allegheny National Forest in Northwestern Pennsylvania, we are proud to be breeders of large, long-coated German Shepherds that are not kenneled but raised as part of our family. Our Old World type of German Shepherds are noted for their large bone structure, level topline (back is not severely angulated), stable temperaments and are considered oversized per written breed standard. Here at Allegheny, our goals are to produce large, healthy, trainable dogs, having less drive for the ideal family companion. Available colors are traditional black and red, black and tan and occasional alternative colors.
Our program firmly believes in adhering to the highest breeding standards to be able to offer the Old Fashioned “type” without sacrificing temperament or health through health screening and selective breeding. Our breeding stock is hip tested through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) and/or PennHIP certified. Our male studs are DNA profiled. Our puppies are strictly sold with an American Kennel Club (AKC) limited registration with a two year written guarantee and are socialized from the time they are born. Because we are highly selective, only a few litters are produced per year.
